No need to worry about complicated measurements or a long list of ingredients. This recipe takes the stress out of baking, allowing you to indulge in a delightful treat without the hassle.

Ingredients Needed for the Recipe
To make this simple and delicious 2-ingredient cake, you will need the following:
- 4 medium red apples
- 1 cup of dark chocolate chips (180 grams)
These two ingredients are the foundation of this cake and provide the perfect combination of creaminess and sweetness.
Step-by-Step Instructions on How to Make the Cake
Now that you have all the ingredients ready, let's dive into the step-by-step instructions to make this creamy and sweet 2-ingredient cake:
- Peel the apples and remove the cores. Cut the apples into small pieces.
- Place the apple pieces in a pot and cover them with water. Boil the apples for about 20 minutes until they are soft enough to be easily sliced with a knife.
- While the apples are boiling, melt the dark chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave. Stir occasionally until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted.
- Once the apples are cooked, drain the water and transfer them to a blender or food processor.
- Add the melted dark chocolate to the blender or food processor with the cooked apples.
- Blend the mixture until it is smooth and well combined. The consistency should be similar to a mousse.
- Line a baking tray or baking tin with baking paper to prevent sticking.
- Pour the mixture into the tray, ensuring it is spread evenly.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 3 hours or overnight to allow it to set. The longer it chills, the firmer and creamier it will become.
- When ready to serve, remove the cake from the refrigerator and cut it into slices. This cake has a mousse-like texture, so it may require some extra care while handling.

Tips for Perfecting the 2 Ingredient Cake
While this recipe is simple, there are a few tips to ensure your 2-ingredient cake turns out perfectly:
- Choose ripe and flavorful apples for the best results. Red apples work particularly well in this recipe, as they add a touch of natural sweetness to the cake.
- Make sure to blend the apple and chocolate mixture until it is smooth and well combined. This will ensure a creamy and consistent texture throughout the cake.
- Use a spring pan or tin lined with baking paper to make it easier to remove the cake once it is chilled and set. This will prevent any sticking and make for a more visually appealing presentation.
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, consider using dark chocolate with a higher percentage of cocoa. This will add depth and richness to the cake.

Variations and Customizations for the Recipe
While this 2-ingredient cake is delicious on its own, you can also get creative and add your own personal touch. Here are a few ideas to customize the recipe:
- Add a sprinkle of salt or a dash of vanilla extract to enhance the flavor profile of the cake.
- Top the chilled cake with fresh berries, a drizzle of caramel sauce, or a dusting of powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness and decoration.
Serving Suggestions and Garnishes
When it comes to serving this creamy and sweet 2-ingredient cake, simplicity is key. The cake is best enjoyed cold, straight from the refrigerator. The chilled texture and flavors will melt in your mouth, providing a refreshing and satisfying dessert experience.
For an elegant touch, you can garnish the cake with a dusting of cocoa powder or a dusting of icing sugar.

I made this but it seems like it’s a little wet. It would be good if you could put approximately how many cups six apples come to. Because I think it’s going to be more of a pudding like texture rather than a Mousse like texture. I will let you know after it has cooled in the fridge for a few hours. Hopefully it turned out. Please put an approximate amount in cups concerning how many apples.

Hey! I think it should firm up in the fridge. The longer the better (overnight is best). If you check out the video in the blog post you can see that when I pour it in the spring pan its like a smoothie. Please do comment back and let me know though! I think adding the weight of the peeled apples before boiling them would be beneficial for sure.
Thanks!! Georgia

I got the same recipe from another site, which stated:
300gr apples + 250 gr dark chocolate + refrigerate for 4 hours.
Good luck

I made this and it turned out great. I used 4 apples and 1.5 cups of dark chocolate chips so it was really firm. I love that this can be a healthy recipe for the whole family even the kids!

Sounds delicious! Yes it's easy to customise to add more or less dark chocolate chips depending on your taste preference. Different types of chocolate will also change the texture. More dark chocolate is great if you want a more dense cake texture. I'm glad you liked it! Thank you!!

Looks yummy! Is there a reason you can't just use applesauce? Thanks!
Georgia Papas says
I personally haven't tried making it with store bought apple sauce but yes this will work! By cooking the apples we are making homemade applesauce so a store bought option will work too. The reason the cake solidifies in the fridge is because the melted dark chocolate hardens. You can adjust the hardness and gooeyness of the cake by adding more dark chocolate (for a harder mousse cake consistency) or more apple sauce (for a more gooey / runny mousse cake consistency)
I hope you enjoy the recipe!
