A super simple 4 ingredient dessert recipe that is high protein as well!
This 4 ingredient high protein cream recipe was inspired by the viral high protein chocolate mousse recipe. If you love this recipe then you must check out the original! I decided to pair this recipe with lime juice and papaya after feeling inspired by one of Nara Smiths TikToks. Whether you are after a healthier cream recipe or you are looking for a healthier 4 ingredient dessert recipe, this high protein cream is sure to impress!
Why You'll Love This Recipe
As mentioned above, I was inspired by Nara Smith for this recipe (who doesn't love her recipes?!). However, in her recipe she used traditional cream. I wanted to re create one of her recipes but I wanted to make a lower sugar, lower calorie, high protein option instead. Then this recipe was born!
It's so easy, so tasty and it's a nutritious alternative to dairy cream! The whole batch contains 675 calories and 33 grams of protein. That means even if you were to eat half (which is a lot!) it would be 338 calories with 16.5 grams of protein, which is amazing! If you are sweet tooth like me then this recipe awesome!
The Three Ingredients You Need
To make the Overnight High Protein Cream, you only need three simple ingredients:
- 100 grams of white chocolate: Choose a vegan white chocolate if necessary. Choosing a high quality chocolate is important because it needs to melt. If the chocolate won't melt you can add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil to help melt the chocolate.
- 300 grams of silken tofu: Silken tofu is a smooth and creamy tofu variety that works perfectly in desserts. It has a mild flavor that easily blends with other ingredients and it's high protein and low calorie.
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup: maple syrup will add sweetness to this recipe. You can substitue for honey or agave as well.
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract: Vanilla extract adds a delightful aroma and flavor to the cream. Opt for pure vanilla extract for the best results.
Step-by-Step Instructions for Preparing Overnight High Protein Cream
- Melt the white chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water or by 20 second bursts in the microwave. If necessary, add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil to achieve a smooth consistency.
- In a blender, combine the silken tofu, vanilla extract, and melted white chocolate. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results. This will allow the cream to set.
Tips for Serving and Storing Overnight High Protein Cream
To make the most of your Overnight High Protein Cream, here are a few tips for serving and storing:
- Serve chilled: The cream must be served chilled. Once warm, the cream looses its structure and will become a runny cream. Even if its runny it's still delicious though.
- Serve with fruit: Check out these papaya lime boats I made with this cream. You won't regret it! There will be more recipes from me with this cream because it is so damn tasty!
- Garnish with toppings: You can enhance the flavor and presentation of the cream by adding some toppings. Fresh fruit, grated chocolate, crushed nuts, or a sprinkle of cinnamon are all great options.
- Store in an airtight container: If you have any leftovers, store the cream in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
More Expert Tips
Can I use a different type of chocolate?
Yep! Any chocolate works. It was this tofu chocolate mousse recipe that actually inspired this one.
Is silken tofu necessary for this recipe?
Yes! This ingredient cannot be substituted
It's not sweet enough! Can I add more maple syrup?
If you want to add more sweetness, I recommend using / adding more honey or agave instead of male syrup. This is because honey and agave have a better structure when cold (think of honey in the fridge compared to maple syrup)
