Are you looking for a delicious vegan protein waffles recipe that won't compromise your fitness goals? As well as the perfect post workout treat? Then satisfy your hunger, and get the protein you need, with this delicious vegan waffle recipe that doesn't require bananas! With just a few simple ingredients, you'll have a delicious breakfast or snack without the unnecessary extras.
How To Make Vegan Protein Waffles
Gather Your Ingredients.
For this vegan protein waffle recipe, you'll need: ⅓ cup of your favourite vanilla protein powder, ½ cup of oats, 150ml of plant milk (I use almond milk), ½ small banana OR ¼ cup of apple sauce (if making this banana free), 1 teaspoon baking powder, ¼ cup of vegan dark chocolate chips (the dark chocolate chips are optional), and then toppings of your choice! Once you have all these ingredients ready, you can start assembling your waffles!
Make The Batter.
When I say "make the batter", I literally only mean turn on your blender! I like to keep things real simple (it's in the blog name!). You really cant get it wrong. Simply add all your ingredients to the blender, blend for 20 seconds, and then your batter is ready to use!
Make Sure To Use the Batter Immediately!
Once you have blended all of your ingredients, use the mixture immediately as it will start to thicken. The mixture is much easier to pour into the waffle maker when runny, and its much easier to cover your chocolate chips with a runnier consistency.
Grease Waffle Maker and Cook Waffles.
Once your batter is made, it's time to get cooking! Begin by greasing your waffle maker with cooking oil spray or vegan butter (don't skip this step!!). Cook the waffles for about 7 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. If you have multiple batches to make, keep the finished waffles warm in an oven set at 200 degrees Fahrenheit / 90 degrees celsius.
Serve with Toppings of Choice & Enjoy!
Add any toppings of your desire! My favourite is strawberries
Why Vegan Protein Waffles Are Such a Great Idea!
I love this recipe because I find using the waffle maker is a great fuss free alternative to making pancakes. Its really hard to get it wrong with the waffle maker, in comparison to pancakes that require that additional step of knowing when to flip the pancake as well as the possibility of the pancake sticking to the pan. This doesn't happen with the waffles maker and is therefore fuss free! However, if pancakes are your thing, then why not check out my vegan protein pancakes recipe too!
I personally LOVE to make these waffles for myself on the weekend after a gym workout. Let me know in the comments below if you do too!
Yes, You Can Make These Banana Free Vegan Protein Waffles
To make these vegan protein waffles banana free, simply substitute the banana in the recipe for ¼ cup of apple sauce.
Nutrition
I love these vegan waffles because they are practically no different to having overnight oats & fruit! If you omit the chocolate chips & only have fruit as your topping, then these are the perfect healthy vegan breakfast disguised as a treat!
