Quench your thirst and replenish your electrolytes with a refreshing homemade watermelon juice that will energize and hydrate you in no time. No fancy juicer is needed!
Whenever I'm making this recipe I also like to make watermelon ice pops. I make about 6 ice pops and keep the rest of the watermelon juice in the fridge in a pitcher. Or if it's simply a fun watermelon recipe that you are after then you are going to love this watermelon jelly recipe, which uses the watermelon shell!
Also, If you are fortunate enough to have juicer then make sure to check out some of my other favourite juices such as my pineapple green juice recipe.
Why You'll Love This Recipe
It's A Healthier Alternative To Sports Drinks
I love this recipe because it is an all natural alternative to store bought sports drinks such as gatorade or Powerade. You can ditch the artifical sugars and preservatives and still reap all of the benefits!
Can Help With Muscle Soreness & Cramping
Not only is watermelon super hydrating thanks to its high water content, but it is also high in potassium, which means it can potentially reduce cramping at / after the gym. (SOURCE WEBMD).
It's hydrating
Watermelon is naturally hydrating because it is mostly water. But the Celtic salt and maple syrup added to this juice recipe help even more with replenishing electrolytes in your body. Celtic salt can help promote better water absorption in your body, preventing dehydration. (SOURCE FLU) Maple syrup is also known to have many hydrating properties too but honestly the main reason you want to add maple syrup to this recipe is the flavour!
Ingredients
To make the electrolyte-restoring watermelon juice, you'll need the following key ingredients:
- ¼ of a whole watermelon: Using a seedless watermelon is recommended to avoid the need for straining the juice.
- ½ teaspoon Celtic sea salt: This special type of salt is known for its rich mineral content, which helps with hydration and restoring electrolytes in the body. Celtic sea salt also adds a subtle depth of flavor to the watermelon juice.
- 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or agave: The natural sweetness from maple syrup or agave adds a delicious touch to the watermelon juice. You can adjust the amount based on your preference for sweetness.
No Juicer Needed! Just Add All Of The Ingredients To A Blender
What's great about this recipe is that no fancy juicer is needed. Simply add all of the ingredients to a blender, taste test, adjust maple syrup and salt as needed, and then enjoy! You can choose to pour the juice through a strainer if you prefer the juice without the pulp or if you have used a watermelon with lots of seeds.
Storage
This recipe if best enjoy fresh but will last in the fridge for up to 2-3 days. Storage in a pitcher (preferably with a lid) in the fridge. Shake / stir before serving.
