Equipment

  • 1 knife if using method 2 or 3, no equipment / utensils needed for method 1!

Materials

  • 3 pieces dragon fruit any color / variety

Instructions

Method 1

  • Hold the fruit firmly with one hand and use your other hand to press your thumb or index finger against the skin at the top of the fruit.
  • Apply gentle pressure as you grab the skin and pull, peeling away the skin in a downward motion.
  • Continue peeling away the layers until you reach the flesh of the fruit, which should be white or red, depending on the variety.
  • Once the fruit is peeled, you can eat it like a banana! Or slice the fruit with a knife as required.

Method 2

  • Use a sharp knife to slice the fruit in half lengthwise. The skin is soft so this is quite easy. Once the fruit is halved, you will see the vibrant flesh inside.
  • Use a spoon to scoop out the flesh, which should come away easily.
  • The scooped-out flesh can be eaten as is or used in a variety of recipes, such as smoothies, sorbets etc.

Method 3

  • Use a sharp knife to slice the fruit in half lengthwise, just like in method two.
  • Once the fruit is halved, use your fingers to peel back the skin from the halves, similar to method one.
  • Now you have two dragon fruit halves with the flesh exposed.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the dragon fruit as you wish.
