Listed below is the ultimate list of vegan handbags, vegan brands, and also accidentally vegan handbags. For those that want to fully embrace the vegan lifestyle, the hardest part is usually not the diet, but the fashion! Most well known handbag designers or brands use cows leather. If I can, I always prefer to buy vegan leather or vegan fashion items. Therefore, I'm often scrolling the internet trying to find all kinds of nice and luxury handbags that are vegan. After a lot of time spent searching (and I'm always doing more!), here is a list of the handbags I think that you should know about.
Why Vegan Handbags?
Living a vegan lifestyle is more than what you eat and extends to all aspects of a persons life, including the clothes, shoes, and handbags they wear. Those who choose to follow a vegan lifestyle are often driven by environmental concerns and animal rights. Therefore, if you're choosing to not eat animals, then why would one want to wear one?
This is a question that most vegans will eventually be faced with. I'm always extremely torn between buying a luxury handbag (which are always animal leather), or to continue searching.
The search for the perfect vegan handbag is never ending for me, and along the way I've discovered many well known brands, as well as uncovering some lesser known gems. From fake leather to canvas, here is the compilation of my favourites.
Vegan Purses & Vegan Clutches
1/ 20 THEMOIRe Bios Vegan Clutch Bag
First up on the list is a 100% ethical and environmentally responsible brand, THEMOIRe. The Bios vegan clutch bag is made with vegan leather, and can be used with a shoulder strap as a carry bag too.

Second on the list is another one from THEMOIRe. This is sold as a vegan crossbody bag, but can be easily be used like a clutch. It has a chunky chain handle that can be carried like a purse or small handbag. What I like about this bag is that it is made out of 100% recycled nylon. It leaves no question or doubt in anyones mind if it's real leather or not.

3/20 THEMOIRe Gea Knitted Faux Clutch
Themoire comes in again at third on the list with this faux leather knitted clutch (I promise there are other brands on the list!). I love this light pink design, and I especially love that its the perfect to be either a purse or crossbody bag.

4/20 Prada Beaded Fringe Clutch Bag
The last clutch on the list is this accidentally vegan clutch bag by Prada. The outer and lining is 100% nylon, with the delicate beaded fringing. Therefore, there is no leather on this high end luxury product. One thing that I also love about this clutch is the reverse side to the beading. which is plain black with a classic Prada logo.

Stella McCartney effortlessly reminds us that ethical and sustainable fashion does not required any compromise on style.

We are now into my favourite category, the vegan tote bag. Tote bags are incredibly versatile, with many of the bags on this list perfect for a day at work, school, uni, or even to the gym!
14/20 Allegory Tote Bag by MIMCO

Another gorgeous bag from MIMCO makes the list. Earlier this brand made an appearance in the crossbody section and it shows up again with its exclusive vegan range. The allegory tote bag is made from corduroy and faux leather, making it the perfect everyday bag. If I'm completely honest, I have just decided to buy this bag myself!

15/20 Sorrento Logo Debossed Tote Bag by V73
V73 has a gorgeous range of tote bags as well as those smaller pursed and crossbody bags mentioned earlier in this list. The bright pink colour might not be for all, but I love it! The Serenity Tote bag is from the same vegan collection as the crescent crossbody bag on this list earlier. This is an incredibly versatile bag. I actually own on myself. I originally bought it to use as a gym bag. But it has since become my everything bag. Its formal and corporate enough to also use as my everyday work bag. If you prefer to carry a larger bag that can fit your laptop, water bottle and still have some more room, then this bag is perfect for you.

Thank you so much for this list! I love designer things but am vegan so it's disheartening when everything is leather. I almost caved in but I remembered that they are skin from baby cows and sheep.

Aren’t the Prada nylon bags made with Saffiano leather trim?
Georgia Papas says
Hey Kat! thanks for highlighting this to me. I've actually gone back and updated the blog post as both Prada bags mentioned unfortunately have leather trims and are therefore not vegan 🙁

Hey, thanks for the list!
As a vegan myself, I’ve been doing research for more than 6 years to get good vegan luxury bags. It’s amazing to see so many nice options nowadays. Btw, I just had a look and saw the Prada tote bag you mentioned here has handles made of real leather. So definitely not vegan unfortunately!
Georgia Papas says
Hi Lina, thanks for letting me know about the Prada bag, I've just gone back and edited the post! Yes there are so many nice vegan brands popping up these days. I hope its only a matter of time before brands like Prada, Chanel etc give us some vegan and sustainable options!
