Tips and tricks for perfecting your jamu drink
- Fresh turmeric and ginger are ideal for the most potent flavor but can substituted for dried turmeric or ginger. Use 23 grams of dried turmeric and 15 grams of dried ginger.
- Tamarind pulp: tamarind pulp can be substituted for tamarind juice if you can't find tamarind pulp.
- Don’t peel the roots. There is no need to spend the time to peel the skin off the roots. Just make sure they are cleaned properly.
- Balance the tart and sweet. Feel free to adjust tamarind or sugar depending on your taste.
- Strain well. A double strain creates a smoother texture. Especially because we are not removing the root skins.
