A Christmas tree fruit platter is a fun, fresh, festive way to serve fruit during the holidays. Instead of laying fruit flat on a board, you build it into a 3D Christmas tree shape using grapes, strawberries, and a colourful star on top.

It becomes an edible centrepiece that’s healthy, refreshing, and perfect for hot tropical Christmas celebrations.
This version uses a half-boiled carrot and apple as the internal structure, which makes the tree completely edible, sturdy, and easy to recreate at home.

How to make a Christmas Tree Fruit Platter
1. Prepare the carrot and apple base
- Peel one large carrot.
- Half-boil it until the outside is softened but the inside stays firm.
- Slice the top and bottom of the carrot flat so it stands upright.
- Slice both ends of the apple to create a flat, stable base.
- Insert four toothpicks into the centre of the apple.
- Slide the carrot down onto the skewers until it sits securely on top.
This forms the strong, edible centre of your christmas tree fruit platter.

2. Build the grape tree with toothpicks
- Insert a toothpick into the carrot at a slight upward angle.
- Add a grape to the toothpick tip.
- Continue around the entire carrot to form your first layer.
- Add the second layer slightly above, tapering inwards.
- Keep layering until you reach the top, forming a full cone shape.
Use firm grapes so the tree holds its shape well.

3. Add the strawberry ornaments
- Cut strawberries in half.
- Use toothpicks to fill the gaps between the grapes with strawberry halves.
- Space them evenly so they look like ornaments on a real Christmas tree.
This creates that classic festive red-and-green look.
4. Make your mango star topper
- Slice the cheeks off a ripe mango.
- Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to press out a mango star.
- Place the star onto a toothpick or onto the skewer that may already be sticking out of your carrot centre.
- Secure it gently at the top of your fruit tree.
A mango star is bright, bold, and perfectly tropical.

5. Decorate the base
- Add mango cubes, jackfruit pieces, or pineapple chunks around the apple base.
- Yellow fruits look especially beautiful and give a warm, glowing contrast under the green tree.
Tips & tricks for perfecting your christmas tree fruit platter
- Insert toothpicks upward, not straight out, for better grip.
- Use firm grapes so the tree stays sturdy.
- Assemble the tree directly on your serving platter.
- Add the star only at the end.
- Prep fruit ahead of time but assemble close to serving.
